A MRT Workout That You Can Do at Home

Are you looking for a quick effective workout? Give MRT a try.
Hip raises with one leg extended
According to Adam Ortega, owner of The Set Fitness in Chagrin Falls, “If you want to get lean, you need a training plan that uses a targeted combination of Metabolic Resistance Training (MRT) in which you perform alternating timed or rep-based sets (supersets, tri sets, circuit, complexes) of non-competitive exercises that collectively work your whole body with little to no rest between movements.”
Classic bodyweight training movements like push-ups, planks, bridges, squats, lunges, pull-ups, and rows are ideal for MRT and will help you build the lean, ripped physique of a gymnast.

Try this 20 minute metabolic workout as a sample of what The Set Fitness offers in Chagrin Falls, OH.
Work Out At Home: (Set your timer for 20 minutes)
This will be 10 reps of each exercise done consecutively as many rounds as possible in 20 minutes. Rest as needed throughout the 20 minutes.

  • 10 Tubing Squat rows (band/tube required)
  • 10 Burpees
  • 10 Squat to press (use light to moderate weights)
  • 10 Mountain Climbers per side (20 total)

Adam adds that, “If you want more muscle and have already mastered your bodyweight, shift your focus to external loading via dumbbells, kettlebells, and/or barbells for classic strength training exercises like squats, chest work, lunges, presses, rows, and curls (yes, curls). Best results will always occur with a healthy mix of body weight training and external loading. Programming is everything!!  A collection of exercises doesn’t equal a workout and a collection of workouts isn’t a program!
