30 Minute Workout at Home

with 3 Comments

Between getting the kids off to school, taking the dog out, and rushing to take my mom for cataract surgery this morning – the hopes of squeezing in a workout was looking shady at best. Had I not taken the weekend off due to soccer tournaments, I may have cut myself some slack. But three days in a row of not working out makes for one crazy mama. So, I decided to try a free Instagram workout called HomeBodySculpt that was recommended to me by my niece.
I’ve worked out from home before, but it really isn’t my bag. I like going to classes, having a trainer plan the exercises and check our form, chat with my friends over good music, and then boom…done. But, I was pretty desperate to workout this morning, so I gave it a shot.
I grabbed a mat, two 12 lb. weights, and my phone to review the workout and use the timer. I watched the video.  Then, while watching it again, I went through each move to make sure I knew what I was doing. I highly recommend doing this so you are prepared when you get started.   I’d also encourage you to warm up for a couple of minutes beforehand.  On Instagram, you can watch her video and then read what to do, how long to do it, how long to rest, and the number of rounds. Here’s what her typical videos look like:

I started the workout, toggling between Instagram and my timer. Holy crap! After a few minutes, my heart rate was up and I was dripping with sweat. It was a great workout that lasted 30 minutes (give or take a few minutes  because I had to stop and get my youngest on the bus).
The best part is that it’s free and she posts new videos frequently. So, there’s a whole library of great workout videos for you on Instagram. I highly recommend it and will definitely try other videos!
Even if you are like me and prefer leaving the house and going to a class, this is a great option when you are crunched for time, traveling, or just want to mix it up.  And, if you prefer to work out from home, you now have a great new resource! Check it out!
We want to know – What’s your preference – go to a class, the gym, or workout at home?   Comment below, on Facebook, or on Instagram.  (You can follow us there too – hint, hint 😉)

Just as a follow-up, I’m sore today too so it was a really great sculpting video as well!
